Keeps hair straight and smooth - plus ingredient research Dec 09, 2010
By L. Shields Like another reviewer said, you only have to use a tiny bit of this product for it to work or your hair will feel sticky and not smooth. It definitely makes my hair much, much straighter and smoother while flat ironing. I have very coarse, thick curly hair. Make sure you let your hair completely dry after spraying it with this. It says it is heat flammable if you use your flat iron with it when wet (scary).
I mainly use this as a protectant for my hair from the heat of the flat iron. However I didn't really see how denatured alcohol (probably used so the product dries quickly) and a bunch of words that I don't know what they are can protect my hair. The only ingredient that does it for me is the very last one (ingredient with the least amount in the product), the silk amino acids.
So, I decided to look up all of the ingredients in the product. I'm definitely not a chemist; this was just found by googling so don't hold me to this.
VP/VA Copolymer prohibits your hair from absorbing moisture (therefore avoiding frizzies). Potassium Dimethicone PEG 7 Panthenyl Phosphate gives your hair softness and silkiness without being greasy. Polyurethane 6 looks like another hairspray or bonding type product. Can't find out what PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is, but I'm assuming an oil would be another hair softener. Methyl Gluceth 20 is an emollient which is a humectant and gives a smooth/gentle feel to the hair. Sodium Citrate is used to keep the acidity down in the product. Lysine Hydrochloride is one of the essential amino acids that the body needs for building proteins. None of the ingredients were toxic or dangerous.
I'm pretty satisfied with that, so I give this 5 stars.

works well enough Jan 08, 2007
By Anna Myers I'm new to straightening my hair, so I don't have a lot to compare this to. It does seem to help keep the frizz at bay, but it makes my hair feel a little stiff, like it's hairsprayed. I was hoping for more shine.

Great Product Feb 20, 2008

My hair usually starts the day straight, after using the flat iron, but then I notice little frizzies appear as the day goes on. Not with this product. You only need a TINY bit for it to work. It took a little bit of trial and error to get it right for me. If you use too much, it will make your hair stiff - like hair spray, but after you tweek it to fit your needs, you'll be happy you did!

Great against humidity, but comes with consequence Mar 26, 2011
By Alice Stark This product is amazing when it comes to humidity.... as long as you wash your hair daily. Because I have coarse, very frizzy hair I usually wash every two days and try to get the most out of my straightened hair, but this product made my hair feel gross immediately. Also, throughout the day my hair got tangled easily so I had to keep a brush on me at work (not somehting I have ever had to do before). The product has an alcohol base to it, so it's clear there is hairspray in there that proved to be quite sticky on surfaces that the spray reached. You have to spray sections of your hair individually as you straighten, because if you spray your whole head then your hair will get crisp before straightening it.
Overall, I really enjoy this product for rainy days (there were 40 mph winds and gushing down rain, and my hair was still straight and frizz free!) but on days where the weather is unlikely to have an impact I doubt I will use it.
