5Foxy Curls for long, curly hair  Aug 25, 2011 By Melissa Mularski
After years of searching for a shampoo and conditioner that worked for me, I've pretty much settled on the Bed Head line. I've used probably 5 or 6 different Bed Head shampoos & conditioners over the last seven or so years, and over the past two have settled on using solely their sulfate-free shampoos (I don't think they have sulfates in conditioners, but I may be mistaken). This duo -- Bed Head Foxy Curls Sulfate-Free Shampoo & Conditioner -- is my hands-down favorite.

The smell is surprising at first, as others have mentioned in other reviews of the Foxy Curls line. It definitely has a kiddie candy-like scent. But as strong as it is, I found the power of it dissipates soon after you're out of the shower. I've never been walking through a store and heard anyone say, "Why am I smelling Skittles?" So I really think the smell fades quickly; it's not just that I'm used to it. However, my son does gets giggly when he smells me coming out of the shower. My husband likes the smell, too.

I have longer, thick, wavy-to-curly hair. I dye my hair about every 4 weeks, usually a medium to dark brown or auburn color. The sulfate-free shampoo of this duo seems to keep the reds in my hair longer, and I really think it's been helping keep the color from fading. In my mid-thirties I started feeling my hair wasn't as thick as it used to be. Since I've been using sulfate-free products, I haven't noticed that AT ALL anymore. My hair's as thick as it ever was.

I'm outside almost all the time. This spring and early summer, I switched to the Tigi Bed Head Some Like it Hot Shampoo & Conditioner Duo, because I'd heard good things about it, and because I was wondering if it would help even more with frizzy hair when it's humid. That duo made my hair feel heavy, almost dirty, and actually did not help at all with frizzy hair. And, I didn't really like the smell of it; I found I was missing the Foxy Curls duo when I was using Some Like It Hot. I'm not sure how Foxy Curls holds up to a blow dryer, though, because I rarely ever dry my hair. I found years ago that when I use these products, all I really need to do is use a wide-tooth comb when I have the conditioner in, then when I'm out of the shower use just a drop of Bed Head TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier, and I'm good to go (albeit my hair is wet for awhile).

FOXY CURLS SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER

+ Smell -- 5 stars
(once I got used to it)

+ For Colored Hair -- 4 stars

+ Controlling Frizzy Hair -- 4 stars
(but I'd rank no other shampoo or conditioner higher than 2 stars)

+ How My Hair Feels When Using It -- 5 stars
(definitely feels cleaner longer, & doesn't weigh my hair down)

+ Price -- 4.5 stars
(somewhat pricey, but the products last much longer for me, compared to store-bought brands)

5Great conditioner  Oct 14, 2011 By Jennie
This conditioner makes my hair have the best curls. They are perfect looking. Every time I use this product, people comment on how great my hair looks. Highly recommended!

4Defined curls are worth the price  Jul 19, 2011 By Jenn Romano
A week of using this conditioner and I am wondering why I used anything else. My naturally curly (and very dry) hair is getting a lot of compliments. At the recommendation of my hairstylist, I use primarily conditioner to wash my hair shampooing only about once a week. The Foxy Curls combs through well and my curls almost immediately spring back to life.

What I like...
-Product texture really makes it feel like it coats every curl
-Makes it easy to de-tangle in the shower
-Shiny, tight curls when dry

What I don't like...
-The scent leaves a little to be desired. It is stronger than I expected (fruit punch scented, a friend says) but the effectiveness of the product outweighs the smell which barely lingers after I put in my styling products.
